Description
The Tasting Note
Zesty citrus, crunchy apple and fresh peach characters. Vibrant acidity and great texture create a versatile, food-friendly wine.
The Vineyard
Our maiden release of Chenin Blanc is sourced from a small vineyard in Vine Vale with just six rows. The site features deep sandy soils over a yellow-red clay sublayer. The sand allows rainfall to penetrate deeply to the clay below, which acts as a vital water reserve during the warm, dry Barossa summers.
We favour this part of the Barossa Valley for Chenin Blanc. Located on the eastern edge of the warm valley floor, the vineyard sits close to the Barossa Ranges and the cooler Eden Valley region. This proximity creates a unique microclimate that’s ideal for elegant white wine production.
Vine Vale benefits from cooling “gully breezes” that descend from the higher Eden Valley. These winds help slow ripening and preserve the fruit’s natural acidityāessential for producing fresh, vibrant Chenin Blanc.
The VintageĀ
The 2025 vintage was one of the earliest in Barossa’s memory, with many growers finishing harvest before the end of March. Following a dry winter, drought conditions prevailed throughout the growing season, while warmer August temperatures led to budburst occurring 2-3 weeks earlier than normal.
The early ripening period allowed for intense flavours while maintaining the natural freshness and balance that defines modern Barossa winemaking.
The Winemaking
Hand-picked on February 3rd and cooled overnight to preserve delicate aromatics. Whole bunch basket pressed to maintain purity and freshness, then fermented in 300-litre seasoned French oak barrels. Complete malolactic fermentation balances natural acidity while adding silky texture. The wine is left on fine lees with weekly bâtonnage to build complexity and depth and after 9 months of maturation, bottled unfined and unfiltered for maximum freshness and pure expression of fruit.
