Description
The Tasting Note
Ripe blackberry and mulberry alongside wild strawberry, with subtle graphite and spice. Soft, silky tannins and vibrant freshness create a deliciously moreish wine.
The Vineyard
Our Grenache is sourced from the historic Dahlitz vineyard, located due south of Tanunda in Hallett’s Valley. These survivor vines were planted in the 1940s and remain hand spur-pruned, a testament to over 80 years of continuous viticulture.
The vineyard sits on distinctive black cracking clay soils with remnants of alluvial deposits from the nearby North Para River.
Cooled by prevailing south-easterly winds that funnel down the river valley, the site benefits from natural temperature moderation during the critical ripening period, helping to preserve the fruit’s natural freshness and vibrant acidity.
The VintageĀ
The 2025 vintage was one of the earliest in Barossa memory, with many growers finishing harvest before the end of March. Following a dry winter, drought conditions prevailed throughout the growing season, while warmer August temperatures led to budburst occurring 2-3 weeks earlier than normal.
The early ripening period allowed for intense flavours while maintaining the natural freshness and balance that defines modern Barossa winemaking.
Winemaking
Hand-picked on February 23rd from 80+ year old survivor vines. Naturally fermented with native yeasts and 20% whole bunches, then left for 14 days on skins after fermentation to build flavour and texture. Gently basket-pressed and aged for 6 months in 500-litre seasoned French oak barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered for maximum freshness.
The Perfect Pairing
