Belinda Van Eyssen’s inspiring journey from Cape Town to The Cutting in Barossa is a testament to her resilience and dedication to winemaking. Born in a region with a rich wine history, Belinda’s roots run deep. Her mother and generations of women in her family worked as grape-pickers. Despite limited means, academic scholarships allowed Belinda to pursue her education, a source of pride for her late father.

Originally studying chemical engineering and food technology, Belinda switched to winemaking after apartheid. She became one of a handful of indigenous female winemakers in South Africa. Her career spans over twenty vintages in renowned regions like Sonoma, Bordeaux, the Douro Valley, and Marlborough.

In 2010, Belinda moved to Australia to marry a Barossa Valley viticulturist. Establishing herself in the Australian wine sector took incredible time and stamina, but her persistence paid off with great jobs and mentors.

Now a proud mother of two, Belinda balances family life with her passion for winemaking. At The Cutting, she blends her international perspective with Barossa traditions. Her favourite time is vintage season, evident in her stained red fingertips.

Belinda’s passion extends to the diversity and sustainability of vineyards and landscapes, and the people and palates that shape the wine world. She uses her strong communication skills to foster collaborative relationships, driving success in the industry.

Belinda shares her journey and insights as a speaker, elevating the wine experience for her audience. She is also a trained wine judge and runs exclusive wine tasting events, bringing her expertise and passion to every event.
